Get ready for Bluebirds! Build your own nest box while learning about these appealing birds.
AOA board member Brian Blair will lead a bluebird nest box building workshop. This will be an informal event that will be fun for families and kids. AOA will provide all of the supplies and tools necessary for participants to build your own bluebird house. While working on your box, learn about bluebirds and how to place and manage nest boxes to attract them.
Similar to other cavity nesting species, bluebirds need suitable boxes to substitute for tree cavities that are often few and far between. Take your box home to mount or leave it with AOA to place at one of our preserves if you do not own or know anyone with suitable habitat. AOA has established a series of nest boxes that can be observed at our Demonstration Site properties on Highway 33.
We will meet inside the guest house which will be warmed with a crackling fire! You may wish to bring a light sweater or jacket to wear inside if it is especially cold that day. Please RSVP to Brian so he can have the right amount of supplies on hand. He can be reached via home phone at 740.332.1025 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
This event is free and open to the public.
