April 24, 2021 all-day

Mushroom season is upon us. Healthy, native forests provide many resources to sustain us. One of the tastiest is the wild mushroom. If you are not already a seasoned mushroom hunter, join us for a special mushroom event in the Hocking Hills as we explore some of AOA’s preserves along the Hocking River and learn how to look for spring mushrooms.

This event will be led by AOA friend and dedicated mushroom hunter, Roger Koerner. Roger will share stories about his mushroom hunts, some “secrets” to his success, cooking tips, and other relevant mushroom wisdom as we wander and explore AOA properties looking for these delicious morsels.

Due to crowd size constraints, we can accommodate a total of only 40 people for this event – 20 in the morning and 20 in the afternoon session. You must register on Eventbrite to participate. Click on the link below to register. Please register for only one session.

In addition to the mushroom knowledge, take time to enjoy the spring wildflower show which continues in near peak bloom. This and other AOA events are free and open to the public. This event will be held rain or shine – so please come prepared and dress appropriately for the weather and hiking on slopes. This is an outdoor event that will be conducted in conformance with applicable Covid-19 recommendations for social distancing.

Time: Morning Session – 10:00 a.m. / Afternoon Session 2 – 1:30
What to Bring: Lunch, snacks, and/or drinks of your choice. Take a break to eat or snack on the preserve and enjoy the peace, serenity and beauty of AOA’s preserves.
