When:
April 24, 2022 all-day

Hike 1 – for Photographers Only:

As if all the varieties of spring ephemerals were not enough, the sounds of waterfalls soothe the soul and provide endless photographic possibilities.

Come join us on a photographer’s outing to explore the bounty of nature subjects. We will visit two beautiful waterfalls located on private properties conserved by AOA with conservation easements that are not open for public access. Reaching heights of between 40 and 70 feet, the waterfalls are surrounded by a bounty of wildflowers that will offer up a perfect opportunity to be fully present in the moment. We hope all the worries of the day potentially fade away while you are at these locations!

We will get an early start to take advantage of soft morning light. Don’t forget to wear hiking boots, bring drinks, tripods and polarizing filters.

Time: Meet at 7:30 a.m. End time is approximately 11:00 a.m.
Location: Meet in the commuter parking lot on Highway 180 on the southwest corner of the intersection with Highway 33 between Rockbridge and Logan. The street address is 28150 Fairview Circle Road, Rockbridge, OH 43149. We will caravan/carpool to the falls sites.
Registration Required for Photographers: We are limiting the number of spots to 10 photographers who must register on Eventbrite to attend. Register on Eventbrite through the following link.

Hike 2 – Open to All:

AOA will lead a waterfall and wildflower hike to each of the two waterfalls described above. Take this opportunity to visit conserved private sites that are not open to the public. Characteristic Hocking Hills landscapes including two scenic waterfalls with Blackhand sandstone bluffs and gorge beckon us with their remarkable beauty. The positive vibrations we receive from the negative ionization surrounding the falls will heighten our appreciation of the splendor of the spring wildflower show unfurling below the falls.

This hike and other AOA events are free and open to the public. This event will be held rain or shine – so please come prepared and dress appropriately for the weather and hiking on slopes. Most of the area we will cover can be easily accessed.

Time: Meet at 10:00 a.m.
What to Bring: Lunch, snacks and/or drinks of your choice. Insect repellant may be desired as it warms.
