AOA will join with the Buckeye Trail Association (BTA) for a trail maintenance workday on a section of the Buckeye Trail in Hocking County. Each year AOA collaborates with the BTA, one of our community partners, to hold a trail event project that helps to expand and improve the trail network available for the community to enjoy our conserved natural areas.
This year we will work on a portion of the Buckeye Trail that crosses Carl and Gail Boesel’s property. The Boesels donated a conservation easement on this site to AOA a couple of years ago, helping to protect the trail corridor and the beautiful lands it crosses in Hocking County.
We will “re-bench” the trail that has begun to fade over time, freshen up the blue painted blazes, tackle invasive species encroaching on the trail and generally create a better hiking experience for trail users.
Come prepared for working outdoors. Please dress appropriately for the weather. Long pants and sturdy footwear are recommended. We will provide the tools and expertise needed. This event is free and open to the public.
The Boesel property is located northeast of Rockbridge and north of Enterprise. We will access the property and park in a small clearing on the right side of Walnut Dowler Road which is on the northeast side of the site – see Google map link below for specific site and parking location.
Meet at 11:00 a.m. We will work until 4:00. Please feel free to come anytime within this window and stay as long as you like.
