Sickles PreserveDustin KrausThe Sickles Preserve is a 70-acre former goat farm which is entirely surrounded by Zaleski State Forest. Its acquisition prevents development in this key in-holding. The property contains hardwood forests and an old-field meadow, with Hewett Fork (Tributary to Raccoon Creek) winding through the center of the property. Several acres of button-bush wetland along the creek are also protected through this acquisition. The Preserve contains the Moonville Rail Trail, a non-motorized trail extending from Zaleski, Ohio to New Marshfield. (Moonvillerailtrail.com) The preserve is located at the end of King Hollow in Waterloo Township, Athens County.
